Why the Health Care System Is F-cked: A personal Tale
So a friend of mine who is on TV has a husband. This husband had serious stomach pain - debilitating even. Turns out his gall bladder was bursting. So last night he tries to go to a hospital - he has a surgeon ready to operate - and he is turned away from FOUR HOSPITALS - they say they have no operating rooms available. So my friend gets on the phone with the head of one of the hospitals. Lets it slip that she is on TV - and dont you know it - an operating room opens up right away. While my friend’s husband is in the operating room, she calls me and asks: “What would have happened if I was just a regular person and not on TV? My husband would’ve spent hours in an emergency room where they would have sent him home with powerful painkillers, his gallbladder would have burst and I’d have no husband.”
And this is the health care system that people say doesn’t need to change. If you are wealthy and connected - you get what you need. If not - sorry.
